Translation of work experience into a diploma in public administration

The study presents an extraordinary case. Despite legal framework and institutional set-up, for VPL in higher education is well established in Denmark a candidate achieving a BA degree by VPL is not an everyday event. The case is an autodidact staff employee getting a Diploma in Public Administration. It is examined how this particular case could be successful, and how the translations of work experiences into academic standards took place using an actor-network theory approach. It is based on the candidate’s written reflections, conversations with the involved professionals and the authors own observations as counselor.
