How self-registration for mapping competences, career guidance and validation can contribute to faster integration.

Session B 5 Refugees and immigrants:

The strong demand on European countries for securing the integration of refugees and immigrants in society and labour market points at VPL as a key component. Cultural dimensions within a broad perspective form challenges to be met in guidance, methods and the VPL professionals’ competences.

This  presentation is based on an ongoing trial of an online-solution for self-registration, mapping of competences, and career guidance in asylum reception centres in Norway. Through the VISKA Project these trials will be extended to include models for validation of NFIL for refugees.   Validation of NFIL will be added to the current measures offered to asylum seekers while they are staying at asylum reception centres in order to achieve a faster intergration into Norwegian working life.
